Stephen A. Strapec, Sr.

Mr. Stephen A. Strapec is President of the Company. A professional, with over 36 years of varied experience in the construction and development fields, Mr. Strapec has extensive experiences in the areas of design/build, construction management, and competitive bid markets.

He has successfully completed projects involving multi-family facilities, schools, hospitals, nursing homes, self storage facilities, stadiums, parking garages, industrial facilities, manufacturing facilities, office buildings, storage facilities, retail facilities, and historical renovations.

As a regional Vice President of construction, he was responsible for the successful completion of over three million square feet of "Class A" office space.

The Manager of Construction for a design-build general contractor he successfully completed projects consisting of industrial warehousing, manufacturing plants, office buildings, retail facilities, and churches. Bid projects completed included, nursing homes, hospitals, schools and major renovation projects.

Mr. Strapec has been involved with the planning, development of plans and specifications and construction of multiple projects. As a Regional Manager, he was responsible for the development and construction of over 130 projects in a 24 state area, with a  volume in excess of $300 million dollars.

Mr. Strapec has also been involved with and personally handled the complete restoration of historic structures. One such project is listed in the national register and was used as a hospital during the Civil War. The restoration of this project consumed over three (3) years of planning and construction time and received the full historic tax credits allowed.

Mr. Strapec is a graduate of Syracuse University and holds degrees in Construction Management and Civil Engineering. He is a member of  NSPE-National Society of Professional Engineers, ASCE- American Society of Civil Engineers, and CSI- Construction Specifications Institute. Also the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce.

His experiences, as an Estimator, Project Manager, Construction Manager and Executive Vice President of Construction, have provided him with the insight to understand the complete building process, from conception to completion.

Value engineering, on time completions and quality construction are standards that he not only understands but has set for others to meet, throughout his career. His attention to detail commences from the initial start of a project and continues until the final item is completed. His ability to work with owners and to help define their building requirements, results in a project that is economical yet meets current and future needs. His ability to conceptualize a project, to put together the right blend of building products, results in the owner getting the quality they require for the funds they are planning to spend.


Stephen A. Strapec, III

Mr. Stephen A. Strapec III is a Vice President of the company. His duties include Project Management, estimating, and scheduling.

Mr. Strapec has been involved and completed governmental projects  for NASA, the Corps of Engineers and the Marine Corps.

In the private sector, he has been involved with new commercial and retail projects including multi-family apartments, self-storage facilities, office buildings and retail stores. He successfully completed renovation projects for Wal-Mart and the US Marine Corps.

Working in the field as a carpenter has provided Steve with hands on field experience in all areas of commercial building construction in various parts of the United States including Florida, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and California. This diversity of projects instills a valuable knowledge of alternate building methods, materials, the ability to find more cost effective methods of construction.

Mr. Strapec's strengths are his involvement with a wide range of project types involving a large geographical area providing exposure to various construction methods and materials. This exposure provides the owner with varied options for development and construction of their projects.

Steve's scheduling and project management experience allows him to complete projects on time and within established budgets utilizing computer aided estimating and scheduling programs.


Robert G. Hart, Jr.

Mr. Robert G. Hart, Jr. is the Vice President of Business Development. His duties include Advertising, Marketing, Sales, and Client Relations for Corporate Office, located in Raleigh, N.C. and all field offices in a four state area: NC., SC., VA., and GA.

A professional with thirty years of experience in all fields of construction including: Tradesman, Foreman, Field Superintendent, Estimating, Design-build and Projects Management, Contract Negotiations, Business Development, Marketing, and Client Relations. Projects completed include Design/Build HCA facilities: hospital addi- tions, cancer treatment centers, and medical office buildings. Additional completed projects are multi-family apartment complexes, condominiums, townhouses, custom homes, public schools, industrial and manufacturing plants, and historical renova- tions.  

Mr. Hart, a Principal in an unlimited Commercial Construction Company in Albu- querque, New Mexico, specialized in Design/Build Medical Projects and Office Buildings.

Employed as Superintendent and General Superintendent for a large Colorado based company- managed construction for HUD Multi-family Housing Complexes- ranging from 80 units to 880 units in New Mexico: Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Taos, Hobbs, and Socorro.

Employed as on-site Project Manager for one of the largest apartment developers in America, Mr. Hart completed Site Development and Construction of 3 projects in Tennessee totaling 300 acres-1,454 units.

As the Owner’s Representative, Mr. Hart managed construction and leasing of Federal Express projects in Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, and Texas.

On-site PM for a 1,000,000 square foot Particle Board Plant in Kane, Pennsylvania for a concrete and steel erection company based in Nashville, Tennessee.

General Manager for a steel erection company in N.C., and Vice President of a Custom Residential Construction/Development company in N.C. describes the experience and successful projects completed.

An active member of the "Jack Miller Network" since 2002. Attends meetings and programs for SMPS-Society for Marketing Professional Services, and Apartment Finance Today Conferences. Holds a Real Estate Broker license in the state of North Carolina. Also a member of the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Hart's experience in all phases of this industry allows first hand knowledge of projects from conception to completion. This knowledge enhances communication from the client to the construction arenas to create the product desired.

Attention to detail and customer service is the utmost priority.


Serena L. King

HyWoods Construction Company, Inc. has employed Serena L. King since 1997 in various support and administrative roles. Specific responsibilities included:

  1. As an Assistant Project Manager, Serena’s duties included shop drawing submission, shop drawing log updating, progress meeting agendas, project meeting notes, project meeting record dissemination, and project closeout documentation (assembly and submittal to Owner & Architects).
  2. Documentation for Davis Bacon requirements on all HUD related projects, which included assisting subcontractors with preparation of forms, compilation of subcontractor information and submission to Owner.
  3. As an Assistant Project Estimator, Serena performed quantity take off of miscellaneous items, requesting bids for subcontractors, including minority firms, taking and recapping bids from subcontractors, requesting bid bonds and preparation of final bids for projects up to 2 million dollars in size.
  4. Preparation of applications for payments and associated documentation from subcontractors as required by specific agencies to include partial waiver of liens and final waiver of liens.
  5. Serena, in addition, performed other administrative duties including accounting duties (accounts receivable and accounts payable), secretarial and receptionist duties.

Ms. King graduated from Old Dominion University in 1987 with a degree in Medical Technology and is ASCP certified. In addition she has attended numerous construction related seminars and construction related conferences, such as MILCON and the Jack Miller network.
